Is it alright to do a summer posting even though summer is basically over? I'm going to vote "yes" because this is definitely easily adaptable depending on the season or occasion! I was watching Giada on the food network sometime near the beginning of the summer and she was making a trifle. It looked very … Continue reading Summer of the trifle

The Great Coffee Table Switch-up
A few months ago, I happened upon this incredible coffee table at goodwill. I know, I know - probably saying to your self "what's so incredible?" I basically bought it for the base. I really like the modern coffee tables with the steel base and the floating top, and because I don't do any metal … Continue reading The Great Coffee Table Switch-up
A Growing Vegetable Garden
After building our new monster garden bed (at least I thought it was monster size until our vegetables started spilling over the edges) I couldn't wait to get my starts planted. I spent months with my little seeds all lined up under a grow light in the garage, and with the delay of summer they … Continue reading A Growing Vegetable Garden
Sometimes it pays to be a crazy neighbor stalker
I posted Sunday night about the dining room and needing more textiles and I said "In a perfect world, I’d love a long upholstered bench or settee along the wall." I kid you not, Monday morning I was driving down the street and in one of my neighbors yards, next to a crazy high pile … Continue reading Sometimes it pays to be a crazy neighbor stalker
Wait! I need how many textiles?
I figured out my problem, and now I have quite a job in front of me. Our whole house has pretty much become shades of blue and grey...and I need to break the cycle without repainting! I claim I did it by total accident. As I choose each wall color, grey just seemed appealing. It's … Continue reading Wait! I need how many textiles?
Progress on the front yard
Quick recap...Here is our front yard when we bought the house When we purchased the house a few years ago there were little garden beds in the front of the house. It's not the prettiest view, but you can see the trees that run along the fence. They basically prevented anything from growing. We waited … Continue reading Progress on the front yard
When things don’t work out as well as you plan
We've been working on our front yard and trying to come up with ideas to liven it up! I've been brainstorming ideas to add some dimension and interest to help distract from the funny windows (seen here). We were playing around with maybe planting a tree or two in the front, so imagine my excitement … Continue reading When things don’t work out as well as you plan
Our funny little house
This is our original house, in a photo taken by the city of Seattle in 1940 Cute, right? Totally charming! But at some point in the last 70 some years, one of the owners decided to do an addition, and tacked the living room on to the end of the house like this Totally awkward! … Continue reading Our funny little house
{Better} Reupholstered silver chair
I love chairs! If I could have it my way, I would skip the sofa and have a living room full of chairs. For some reason which I can't explain they hold sentimental meaning that no other of my furniture has. Don't get me wrong, I love all furniture, but chairs are different. My first … Continue reading {Better} Reupholstered silver chair
garden shed – phase 1 complete
By Sunday evening I demolished the "carport" built on to the side of our little shed. The trim along the roof frame was completely split, so my plan for Monday was to rip off the old trim and cut and paint new trim. And of course as soon as I started painting it started raining. … Continue reading garden shed – phase 1 complete
