Updated Living Room

I decided that number 15 and 16 on 30 Before Baby only needed one post and since I only have a single photo, I just thought I’d throw up it!  Wow, 2 posts in 1 day…don’t think I’ve ever done that before…I’m trying to just power through.

  • 15.  Buy a TV console which I will probably want to refinish
  • 16.  Buy the perfect living room rug, something soft for the little one to play on…currently in the research phase

Here is the last posting I have of the living room.  Side note – yes…there is already a rug, but it was getting dirty from the dog and foot traffic between the front door and back doors.  I had it professionally cleaned and cut down to fit Lucy’s room.  A lighter colored rug in her room made a lot more sense.  Since about February we have just had the bare hardwood floors…which really made me excited to put a rug back down.

I have to admit, I cheated a bit.  The rug isn’t my perfect dream rug, but it’s been great!  Turns out my parents were getting a new area rug for their living room so generously donated their old one to us.  It’s that perfect hide everything color which is exactly what we need…it’s already had a whole glass of red wine spilled on it, and you can’t even tell.  (wasn’t me!)  I was a little nervous about the color and how it would go, but honestly it works so well, better than I could have imagined.  It’s almost the exact same color as the grout on the fireplace.

It’s been so great having a rug down.  I find myself sitting on the floor so much more often….these two love it also!  (Sorry phone photo)

And as for the TV and console…they are great to have.  I’m not a huge fan of large TV in the living room, but it’s been so wonderful.  Our other TV is upstairs which has a very narrow steep stairway and it’s been about 100 degrees up there this summer, so a TV downstairs has been incredibly convenient.  Another thing…wow, TVs have come a long way!  This one has wifi built in AND it has apps.  Our router is upstairs so the TV just connects and then I can watch hulu or netflix, or stream pandora.  It’s incredible!

The console is definitely very blah.  It was cheap!  In the back of my head I was thinking I might be able to find something old and cool that I could refinished, but one – no one really sells corner media stands that aren’t hideous fiber board and two – no time to refinish.  I’m not the biggest fan of corner media consoles and figure we won’t need it for that long, or just as long as we are in this house.

So there you have 2 more that I crossed off!  To be honest, there aren’t really many more that I crossed off :)
